Olimpia and Alajuelense Clash in Crucial Copa Centroamericana Semifinal
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – Club Deportivo Olimpia and Liga Deportiva Alajuelense face off on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in the second leg of the Copa Centroamericana semifinals. The match will take place at the National Stadium Chelato Uclés, starting at 8:00 PM local time.
The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw in Costa Rica last week, with Olimpia benefiting from an away goal. Marcos Montiel scored for Olimpia before Anthony Hernández equalized for Alajuelense, leading to an exciting decider in Tegucigalpa.
Olimpia comes into this match with a strong track record, undefeated in their last eight Copa Centroamericana games. They have recorded five wins and three draws during this impressive run. Head coach Eduardo Espinel expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a spot in the finals for the first time.
“We must become champions,” Espinel stated. “We are determined to put everything we have into this game.” However, Olimpia will be missing players Jorge Álvarez and Yustin Arboleda due to suspensions.
Alajuelense, the defending champion, looks to reach the finals for the third consecutive time. Despite facing a setback in the first leg, they remain a formidable force, currently leading the Costa Rican league. Under head coach Óscar Ramírez, they aim to reverse the scoreline in Honduras.
“We are ready to turn this series around,” said Ramírez. “We have done it before, and we will rely on our offensive strength.” Alajuelense is without midfielder Joel Campbell due to injury, which poses a challenge.
The match will air live across Central America on ESPN and Disney+ Premium, while viewers in the United States can stream it for free on Concacaf Go’s YouTube channel. The atmosphere is expected to be electric, with over 19,000 tickets already sold in Tegucigalpa.
With the aggregate score tied, the team that comes out on top will advance to the finals, facing Xelajú, who defeated Real España in a thrilling penalty shootout. Should the match end in a 1-1 draw, it will go to extra time and potentially a penalty shootout to determine the final participant.
