Patrick Dempsey Returns to Racing and Reflects on ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ Title

Patrick Dempsey, the renowned actor best known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd in the hit TV series ‘Grey's Anatomy,’ is making headlines for two distinct reasons. Recently, Dempsey has returned to the world of motorsports, participating in the new docuseries “Back on Track” from the Mobil 1 brand and Hagerty. In this series, Dempsey and his teammate Patrick Long will be piloting the #98 Wright Motorsports Porsche 718, giving racing fans and motorsports enthusiasts a glimpse into their journey.

In addition to his racing endeavors, Dempsey has been in the spotlight for being named People Magazine‘s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2023. He took over the title from Chris Evans and joined an elite list of past honorees including Idris Elba, David Beckham, Bradley Cooper, George Clooney, and Matthew McConaughey. In an interview with People Magazine, Dempsey revealed that the title has brought him both recognition and anxiety. He mentioned that it has made him more anxious about staying in shape and training, but also acknowledged the positive platform it provides to discuss important issues, such as his work with The Dempsey Center, a cancer care foundation.

Dempsey expressed his gratitude for the title but emphasized not taking it too seriously, noting that there are many attractive and wonderful men in various ways. He also shared that the recognition has given his ego a boost, especially at this stage of his life. The actor is set to star in Michael Mann‘s biopic ‘Ferrari,’ where he will portray Italian driver Piero Taruffi, further showcasing his passion for racing.
