Stevenage Arson Vehicle Fires

An active police investigation is under way following a series of suspected arson attacks on vehicles in Stevenage, Hertfordshire. Emergency services responded to calls about multiple fires starting from 01:20 BST in the early hours of the morning.

The incidents occurred in three separate streets: Vardon Road, Jessop Road, and Canterbury Way, where numerous vehicles were set ablaze. The fire spread to nearby vehicles in some cases, though no injuries have been reported.

In response to the unfolding situation, roads were temporarily closed to allow emergency personnel to extinguish the fires and begin their inquiries. Hertfordshire Police have been actively involved in the investigation and have urged the public to avoid the affected areas while they conduct their operations.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police confirmed that “numerous vehicles” were involved in the arson attacks. Det Con Christopher Jones of the Stevenage Local Crime Unit addressed community concerns, stating, “I appreciate the nature of this incident will be concerning to the local community and devastating for the victims, and we are doing all we can to trace those responsible.”

Authorities have appealed for public assistance, requesting individuals who may have witnessed suspicious activity or who possess CCTV or doorbell footage from the area to come forward. Det Con Jones also urged those whose vehicles were damaged but have not yet reported the incident to contact police immediately.
