Psv Eindhoven's Unbeaten Streak Ended By Draw Against Utrecht

PSV Eindhoven, the current Dutch league leaders, saw their unbeaten streak come to an end after being held to a 1-1 draw by struggling Utrecht at the Stadion Galgenwaard on Sunday.

PSV had an impressive run of 17 consecutive wins in the league before their visit to Utrecht. They took the lead in the seventh minute through a goal from Johan Bakayoko.

However, Utrecht was determined to spoil PSV’s unbeaten record and fought back to secure a draw. Belgian midfielder Othman Boussaid scored the equalizer for Utrecht in the 53rd minute, marking his first goal of the campaign.

PSV previously achieved a similar feat during the 1987-88 season when they won their first 17 games, matching a Dutch record. Unfortunately, on that occasion, their unbeaten run was also interrupted by a draw.

Reflecting on the game, PSV coach Peter Bosz admitted that his team’s performance was not up to par and commended FC Utrecht for their excellent performance. Although the unbeaten streak may have come to an end, Bosz still acknowledged its significance.

Feyenoord, who currently sit in second place, registered a 2-1 win against bottom-placed Vitesse, thus reducing PSV’s lead at the top of the table to 10 points.
