Rachel Zegler Stuns at Variety’s New York Celebration
On a recent Sunday evening, the entertainment industry celebrated Rachel Zegler as the cover star of Variety‘s latest New York issue during a gala event. The party, hosted in a sophisticated setting at Saint Theo’s Italian restaurant in the West Village, drew prominent figures from across the entertainment world.
Zegler, who is gaining widespread acclaim for her role as Juliet in Sam Gold’s Broadway rendition of “Romeo + Juliet,” made a dazzling appearance. Styled by Sarah Slutsky Tooley, Zegler wore a striking ensemble featuring a transparent black top-layer adorned with teardrop-shaped jewels and pearls, over a black bra and high-waisted shorts, reminiscent of iconic past fashion moments. She accessorized with Jimmy Choo pumps and a Lady-D Joy Bag, completing her look with simple silver earrings and understated makeup.
During the event, Zegler expressed her deep connection to New York City, highlighting her father’s career in construction, which notably included working on the rebuilding of the World Trade Center. “I am so proud to have made my life here,” she said, acknowledging the city as a lifelong home partly crafted by her father’s hands.
The evening honored not only Zegler but also highlighted others on Variety’s New Power of New York list. The event was kicked off by Variety’s co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh, who expressed an enduring love for New York and celebrated the attendees, including television personalities like Heidi Gardner and Sherri Shepherd, alongside several other notable entertainers and executives.
Zegler was joined by her co-stars from “Romeo + Juliet,” including Kit Connor, and her “West Side Story” co-star and boyfriend, Josh Andrés Rivera, further marking the evening as a celebration of both her artistic journey and personal milestones.
