Rams Activate Players for Crucial Match Against Buccaneers
INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Los Angeles Rams made crucial roster adjustments ahead of their Sunday night showdown with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at SoFi Stadium. With key injuries impacting the team, the Rams activated linebacker Elias Neal and wide receiver Brennan Presley from the practice squad and promoted safety Tanner Ingle to the active roster.
Presley’s activation suggests that fellow wide receiver Xavier Smith could remain sidelined due to a questionable status that emerged last week. The Rams have not publicly confirmed Smith’s game availability as of yet. Both Neal and Presley are expected to contribute on special teams, with the latter potentially seeing action on offense.
Rams rookie wide receiver Brennan Presley has shown promise in preseason, earning his spot on the active roster after delivering standout performances, including a remarkable catch against the Los Angeles Chargers.
According to the Rams’ PR team, Presley recorded five explosive receptions of 16 yards or more during the last three preseason games, leading all NFL receivers. Rams acting head coach Aubrey Pleasant praised the young receiver corps, stating, “It’s unbelievable how much our young receivers really took the bull by the horns today.”
Defensively, the Rams’ coaching staff faces the challenge of replacing safety Quentin Lake, who remains on injured reserve. Lake’s absence is significant, as the coaching staff has relied on his leadership to strengthen the secondary.
“Everybody knew how much this meant to Q… It’s extra motivation to ensure he can be a part of the team and the playoff run,” said Rams safety Kamren Kinchens about Lake.
Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula acknowledged that Lake’s contributions are irreplaceable, emphasizing the importance of stepping up in the defensive roles.
“You don’t replace a Quentin Lake. He’s so valuable for so many reasons with what he can do, with who he is as a human,” Shula said.
Looking ahead to their critical matchup against Tampa Bay, the Rams are focused on continuing their winning momentum from recent games. The upcoming game against the Buccaneers presents a significant opportunity for the Rams to solidify their place in the playoff race.
