Rare Snowfall in Louisiana Captured by Gypsy Rose Blanchard
NEW ORLEANS, La. — Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the Louisiana native and subject of Lifetime‘s ‘Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up,’ shared rare moments of a snow-covered southern Louisiana on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025. Blanchard, 33, and her boyfriend, Ryan Urker, documented the unusual winter weather on social media, showcasing their backyard blanketed in snow.
“Snow storm in southern Louisiana,” Blanchard wrote on her Instagram Stories, accompanied by a photo of the snowy scene outside her home. Additional posts included a selfie video of Blanchard bundled in a cream-colored hooded sweater, urging her followers to “stay warm.”
The couple’s family dog also made an appearance, playfully exploring the unfamiliar snowy terrain. According to the National Weather Service, Louisiana was under an extreme cold warning, with wind chills as low as 7 degrees Fahrenheit expected until 9 a.m. CST on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Blanchard and Urker’s daughter, Aurora, born on Dec. 28, 2024, did not appear in the posts. Blanchard has chosen to keep her daughter’s life private, stating in early January, “I understand everyone’s excitement, but we value the privacy and safety of our daughter.”
Blanchard, who was released from Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri in December 2024 after serving eight years, has expressed her joy in starting a family. “All the things that I wanted in a mother, I want to give to this baby,” she said. “To be here, standing on my own two feet and expecting my first baby, that’s something I’ve reached as an achievement.”
