Shooting Reported at Baton Rouge Hospital Parking Lot

BATON ROUGE, La. — Officers from the Baton Rouge Police Department are responding to a shooting incident that occurred Wednesday around 3:50 PM in the parking lot of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, located at 5000 Hennessy Blvd.
The shooting took place across the street from the hospital, near a Walgreens at the intersection of Essen and Hennessy, according to reports from the hospital and police.
Our Lady of the Lake Hospital confirmed the shooting on X, stating, “We are aware that BRPD are responding to a shooting in a parking lot across the street from OLOL Regional Medical Center. The hospital is on lockdown, and we are in touch with our law enforcement partners. There is no active threat inside our facilities at this time.” The hospital urged the public to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities have not released additional details about the shooting or the condition of the victim. According to police, one individual was shot, with the incident prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
