Southampton Fc Women Determined To Bounce Back After Disappointing Defeat To Crystal Palace

Southampton FC Women’s midfielder, Lucia Kendall, has expressed disappointment after the team’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in a Championship match. The game, held at St Mary's, saw the visitors take control with first-half goals from Isibeal Atkinson and Elise Hughes. However, the home side managed to make a comeback in the second half, with Kendall herself scoring a goal. Despite the effort, Southampton FC Women fell short and failed to secure a point by the end of the match.

Kendall acknowledged that the team’s first-half performance was not up to par, leading to their eventual defeat. She emphasized the need for consistency, stating that they cannot afford to have 45 minutes of subpar play at this level. She further added that the team must learn from their mistakes and maintain a strong performance throughout the entire game, rather than just in the later stages.

Although disappointed, Southampton FC Women remain in a good position in the league, just three points behind the leaders. They will now turn their attention to an upcoming FA Cup tie against Women's Super League side, Manchester United. Following the cup match, their focus will shift back to the league as they face Birmingham City on February 18.

Kendall believes that the game against Birmingham City presents the perfect opportunity for Southampton FC Women to regain their form. She stressed the importance of a positive response and urged the team to secure three points in the upcoming match. With only four points separating the top five teams in the division, the end of the season promises to be an exciting battle for the title.
