Michigan State enters the matchup as a significant favorite, with point spreads indicating a 21.5-points advantage over Colgate, according to FanDuel. The Spartans are looking to begin the season strong as the defending Big Ten champions and are projected to finish sixth in the conference’s preseason rankings.
Meanwhile, Colgate aims to recover from a disappointing 14-19 season last year. The Raiders are predicted to finish third in the Patriot League‘s preseason coaches poll and have secured NCAA Tournament appearances in five of the last seven seasons.
Tom Izzo, Michigan State’s head coach, expressed confidence in his team’s potential despite some struggles during exhibition games, stating, “We need to come together quickly if we want to make a mark this season.”
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET, and the atmosphere is expected to be electric as fans fill the Breslin Center to support their team’s opener against the Raiders.
