Mourners have gathered at the Grace Bible Church in Soweto to bid farewell to soccer legend Stanley 'Screamer' Tshabalala.

75-year-old Tshabalala passed away last week due to injuries he sustained when he was shot by intruders at his home in March.

The former Bafana Bafana coach has been offered a category two special provincial funeral.

Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager, Bobby Motaung paid tribute to Tshabalala.

“Bra Stan was a fighter. He fought till the last day,” says Motaung, describing the person Stanley was.

“He taught me football which is something [I know today]. Bra Stan was a legend, an Icon. May God bless the family of the Tshabalala. Let’s love this game called football.”

Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie said Stanley’s work spoke for itself.

“I didn’t know Bra Stan personally but I knew his work. Today I’m standing here for a man that I never met, but I was touched by his work. I can testify that his life was a life well lived.”
