Swati Maliwal Faces Threats After Accusations from Dhruv Rathee: AAP in Turmoil

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has found herself in the midst of turmoil after accusations and a character assassination campaign alleged against her by party leaders and volunteers. This situation took a darker turn as she received rape and death threats, a distressing development that has set off a chain reaction.

Maliwal pointed fingers at YouTuber Dhruv Rathee for exacerbating the situation by posting a one-sided video against her. In response, she took to X to express her dismay. She raised concerns about the orchestrated character assassination, victim shaming, and emotional manipulation directed at her by AAP members, resulting in the disturbing threats she received.

The escalating tension between Maliwal and AAP has brought to light various missing elements in the narrative. Despite the party’s initial acceptance of the incident involving an assault on Maliwal, a subsequent U-turn was observed. Additionally, details from an MLC report outlining injuries from the assault, the accused Bibhav Kumar’s arrest from the crime scene at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal‘s residence, and questions surrounding tampering of evidence have added layers to the complex situation.

Maliwal also raised the issue of why Bibhav Kumar, a former PS to Kejriwal, was allowed access to the scene again after his arrest, hinting at potential tampering. Furthermore, she questioned how the BJP could supposedly influence a woman who has consistently stood for the right issues, such as her solo trip to Manipur without security.

Expressing disappointment with the response from Dhruv Rathee, Maliwal stated that despite her attempts to reach out and provide her side of the story, he ignored her calls and messages. She highlighted the need for independent journalists to uphold their integrity and not align themselves with specific narratives that contribute to victim shaming and abuse.

Maliwal concluded her statement by calling attention to the tactics employed by the AAP and its supporters, emphasizing their approach to vilify and shame her instead of addressing the core concerns of women’s issues. She asserted her determination to report the rape and death threats to the Delhi Police, urging strong action against the perpetrators and warning that if any harm befalls her, the instigators are clear.
