Tallon Griekspoor Returns to Court with Straight-Set Win in Mallorca

MALLORCA, Spain – Tallon Griekspoor made a triumphant return to the tennis circuit, defeating American Ethan Quinn in straight sets at the ATP 250 tournament on Mallorca on Wednesday. Griekspoor, ranked 34th globally, had been sidelined for three weeks due to an abdominal injury that forced him to retire from his match against Alexander Zverev at the French Open.
Facing Quinn, who had pushed him to a deciding fifth set in their previous encounter at the French Open, Griekspoor showed resilience. In the first set, Quinn challenged him with powerful serves, winning 14 of 16 points on his first serve. Despite this, Griekspoor edged the set 7-5.
The second set started positively for Griekspoor as he broke Quinn’s serve in the first game. However, Quinn retaliated by breaking Griekspoor back in the fourth game. Griekspoor managed to secure another break later, capturing the second set 6-4 after overcoming two match points before finalizing the victory on his fourth.
“It feels great to be back,” Griekspoor said after the match. He also welcomed back his coach Kristof Vliegen just prior to the tournament. Next, he will face Canadian player Alex Diallo in the third round. Griekspoor previously defeated Diallo at the French Open.
