Taryn Manning Disheveled Appearance Los Angeles 2025

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Actress Taryn Manning, best known for her role in the hit Netflix series *Orange Is the New Black*, sparked concern among fans after appearing disheveled during a late-night outing in Los Angeles on Monday. The 46-year-old star, who played Tiffany ‘Pennsatucky’ Doggett in the acclaimed series, looked markedly different from her red carpet appearances, raising questions about her well-being.

Manning was photographed sitting on the trunk of a car with a Trump/Vance sticker, wearing a white t-shirt featuring the logo of punk band Suicidal Tendencies, a white zip-up hoodie, and matching joggers. Her unkempt hair and a visible red scratch on her hand added to the concerning appearance. The photos contrasted sharply with her glamorous looks at events like the 2015 Golden Globe Awards.

The actress, who has faced public scrutiny in recent years, was last seen in December attending a Christmas party in Palm Springs. At the time, she appeared in high spirits, sporting a white fur-trimmed jacket and knee-high yellow suede boots. Manning is currently preparing for a return to Hollywood with a role in the indie drama *Out Come The Wolves*, where she stars alongside *Breaking Bad* actor Giancarlo Esposito. The film, directed by Danny Peykoff, is being shot in Portland, Oregon.

Manning’s career has been marked by both acclaim and controversy. She gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Pennsatucky in *Orange Is the New Black*, a role that earned her critical praise for its complexity. However, her personal life has often made headlines, including a 2016 breakdown on the set of the series that led to a brief stay at Silver Hill psychiatric hospital in Connecticut. Manning later clarified that she does not struggle with substance abuse, stating, ‘I’ve never even seen methamphetamine. Nothing. Never.’

In 2023, Manning alarmed followers with a since-deleted Instagram video in which she detailed graphic sexual acts she claimed to have performed on a married lover. The video, which she later described as a ‘spiritual attack,’ led to widespread concern about her mental health. Manning has since maintained a steady acting career, with roles in films like *Bloodline Killer* and the upcoming *Dragged Off*.

Despite the controversies, Manning remains a resilient figure in Hollywood. Reflecting on her career, she told *The Hollywood Reporter* in 2023, ‘I’ve made it clear that I used to do a bump [of cocaine] here and there, but not anymore. I call it the devil’s dandruff — can’t stand it.’ She also emphasized her commitment to mental health, stating, ‘I have the wherewithal to go to therapy on my own.’

Manning’s journey from a trailer park upbringing to Hollywood stardom has been anything but conventional. Her breakout role in Britney Spears‘ 2002 film *Crossroads* launched her career, and she has since appeared in notable projects like *Hustle & Flow* and *8 Mile*. Manning also pursued a music career, releasing albums with her band Boomkat and collaborating with artists like Kanye West.

As she prepares for her next chapter in *Out Come The Wolves*, fans and critics alike will be watching closely to see how Manning navigates her career and personal life in the years to come.
