Tennessee Hosts NCAA Baseball Regional Amid Rainy Forecast

Knoxville, Tennessee – For the fourth time in five seasons, Knoxville is set to host a regional in the NCAA Baseball Tournament. The University of Tennessee, boasting a record of 43-16 overall and 16-14 in Southeastern Conference play, earned a No. 14 national seed.
Despite struggles towards the end of the season, the Volunteers secured their hosting rights with a strong performance in Hoover. They will kick off the tournament against Miami (Ohio), which enters as the No. 4 seed.
Miami (OH) features MAC Pitcher of the Year Cooper Katskee, posing a challenge for Tennessee on Friday night. The region also includes Cincinnati, which is the No. 3 seed after receiving an at-large bid from the Big 12. Wake Forest, an ACC at-large team, is the No. 2 seed.
The schedule begins on Friday, May 30, with the following results: Game 1 – Cincinnati defeated Wake Forest 11-6, while Game 2 saw Tennessee triumph over Miami (OH) with a score of 9-2.
On Saturday, May 31, Game 3 had Wake Forest narrowly beating Miami (OH) 14-13, leading to Miami’s elimination. Game 4 had Tennessee besting Cincinnati 10-6.
Looking ahead, Game 5 will feature Cincinnati facing Wake Forest at noon ET on Sunday, June 1. The winner of this match will then meet Tennessee at 6 p.m. ET.
However, rain is expected in Knoxville throughout the weekend, bringing uncertainties to the game times. Forecasts predict highs around 70 degrees on Friday with a 61 percent chance of rain, decreasing to 41 percent on Saturday at 79 degrees and 40 percent on Sunday at 77 degrees.
