Tennessee Titans Coach Brian Callahan Firing News

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans have fired head coach Brian Callahan after a disappointing 1-5 start to the 2025 NFL season. The decision was announced on Monday, following a 20-10 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders that marked the team’s fifth defeat in six games.

Chad Brinker, the Titans’ president of football operations, confirmed the news in a statement, saying that the management had discussed the situation with owner Amy Adams Strunk and general manager Mike Borgonzi before making the decision. ‘These decisions are never easy, and they become more difficult when they involve people of great character,’ Brinker said. ‘We are grateful for Brian’s investment in the Titans and Tennessee community during his tenure as head coach.’

Callahan’s tenure with the Titans included a record of 4-19, with a calamitous 3-14 season last year that put the team in a three-way tie for the worst record in the league. As a result, the Titans received the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Callahan took over as head coach in January 2024, following the departure of Mike Vrabel, who is now the head coach of the New England Patriots. A former offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, Callahan was expected to revitalize the Titans’ offensive strategy. However, his first year ended poorly, and the team’s struggles continued into the current season.

In the current season, the Titans’ offense has performed poorly, ranking last in the league for yards per game, and second worst in points per game. Callahan had relinquished play-calling duties to quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree after the Titans started the season 0-3.

Brinker emphasized the need for improvement, stating, ‘Our players, fans, and community deserve a football team that achieves a standard we are not currently meeting, and we are committed to making the hard decisions necessary to reach and maintain that standard.’

The Titans are set to face their former coach, Mike Vrabel, and the New England Patriots at Nissan Stadium this Sunday, marking an intriguing matchup for Tennessee.
