Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe Consider Role Reversal in Potential Reunion
LONDON, U.K. — Tom Felton, known for his portrayal of Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” film series, has revealed he and co-star Daniel Radcliffe have discussed the possibility of reuniting for a new project — with a twist. In a 2022 interview with Digital Spy, Felton expressed enthusiasm about the idea of reversing their iconic roles, with Radcliffe playing the villain and Felton as the hero.
“We all talk about doing something again in all different ways,” Felton told Digital Spy. “Daniel and I have often joked about the idea of when we do work together again, he’ll be the villain and I’ll be the hero.” This potential role reversal would mark a significant departure from their dynamic in the “Harry Potter” franchise, where Radcliffe’s Harry Potter and Felton’s Draco Malfoy were long-standing adversaries.
In the “Harry Potter” series, Draco Malfoy was introduced as a wealthy, arrogant pureblood wizard who frequently clashed with Harry and his friends. Over the course of eight films, Draco evolved from a schoolyard bully to a conflicted young man caught in the shadow of his family’s allegiance to Lord Voldemort. Despite his antagonistic role, Draco’s reluctance to fully embrace evil, particularly in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” added depth to his character.
Since the conclusion of the “Harry Potter” series in 2011, both actors have pursued diverse careers. Felton has appeared in films such as “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” and “Belle,” as well as television roles in “The Flash” and “Origin.” Radcliffe, meanwhile, has taken on challenging projects to distance himself from his Harry Potter persona, including the Broadway revival of “Merrily We Roll Along,” for which he won a Tony Award in 2024.
While fans eagerly await a potential reunion, the actors’ busy schedules remain a hurdle. Felton and Radcliffe have yet to confirm any concrete plans, but the prospect of seeing them together on screen again — with a fresh dynamic — continues to generate excitement among fans of the beloved franchise.
The “Harry Potter” movies are currently available for streaming on Peacock.
