Twins Brooks Lee Walk Off Hit Baseball

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Minnesota Twins rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat the Kansas City Royals 5-4 in a thrilling game on Saturday at Target Field. This win marked their 16th victory in 18 games.

Brooks Lee delivered a clutch two-out single in the bottom of the ninth, bringing home Carlos Correa for the game-winning run. The Twins continued their streak of dramatic finishes, having achieved walk-off victories in three out of their last four games.

The Royals started strong, with a 4-0 lead after five innings, thanks to a two-run double from Vinnie Pasquantino and an RBI single by Salvador Perez. However, the Twins began their comeback in the fifth inning when Harrison Bader smashed a home run, followed by a two-run single from Ty France.

“It feels good to contribute in such a big moment,” Lee said after the game. “We believe in each other, and we never gave up.”

Pitching for the Royals, Michael Wacha struggled after a strong start, surrendering four runs in five-plus innings. In contrast, Twins reliever Jorge Lopez pitched a strong ninth, preserving the win for Minnesota.

With their recent performance, the Twins’ new players, including Bader and Kody Clemens, played vital roles, as Clemens tied the game with a homer in the sixth inning. Each of these players has exceeded expectations since their arrivals in Minnesota, collectively driving in 60 runs this season.

The Twins, currently torn with both strong and weak moments this season, are looking to build on this momentum. The series against the Royals continues with another game on Sunday, where Kris Bubic will pitch for Kansas City against Twins’ Bailey Ober.
