Uber Eats Delivery Bronx Theft

In a startling incident involving an Uber Eats delivery in the Bronx, a 27-year-old woman’s purse containing $10,000 was allegedly stolen by the delivery driver. The case, reported by the New York Police Department, occurred after the woman had requested that her Uber Eats order be delivered through an open window at her apartment on Haviland Avenue, close to Olmstead Avenue, in the Union Port neighborhood.

The order, placed at approximately 2:40 a.m. on September 13, did not go as planned. According to police and surveillance footage, the delivery driver, who arrived on a bicycle, delivered the food to the woman’s apartment door instead of passing it through the window as instructed.

As the delivery driver was leaving the building, he allegedly noticed the victim’s purse sitting in the open window. Footage from the scene indicates that the driver, dressed in a blue cap and a gray-spotted sweat suit, seized the opportunity to grab the purse before swiftly departing the premises.

An Uber spokesperson commented on the incident, stating, “We have no tolerance for this kind of behavior. We’ve removed the courier account’s access to the Uber platform and are continuing to look into this further.” The company has also engaged with the NYPD to offer assistance in their ongoing investigation.

The New York Police Department has urged anyone with information concerning the case to contact their Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The investigation seeks to identify the suspect and recover the stolen cash.

This incident adds to the stories of caution for those ordering delivery services, highlighting the need for vigilance and secure handling of valuable items.
