Universal Pictures has officially announced the title of the seventh installment in the Jurassic franchise, titled ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’. This film marks the first appearance of Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali in the series.

‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ is directed by Gareth Edwards, known for his work on ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’, and is set five years after the events of ‘Jurassic World Dominion‘, which was released in 2022. This film concluded a trilogy that has earned over $3 billion globally.

The script for the new movie is written by David Koepp, who was also the writer for the original ‘Jurassic Park‘ film released in 1993.

According to the studio, the storyline unfolds in a world where the ecological conditions have made it largely inhospitable for dinosaurs. Those that remain are confined to isolated tropical environments similar to their natural habitats.

The plot indicates that three colossal dinosaur species possess the genetic material necessary for creating a life-saving drug. Johansson portrays Zora Bennett, a covert operations expert tasked with leading a mission to secure this genetic material. Mahershala Ali plays her trusted team leader, Duncan Kincaid.

The film further explores the intersection of Zora’s operation with a civilian family whose boating trip is disrupted by aggressive aquatic dinosaurs. As they find themselves stranded on an island, they uncover a shocking discovery that has been kept hidden from humanity for years.

The cast also includes notable actors such as Jonathan Bailey, who portrays paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis, and Rupert Friend as Martin Krebs, a representative from a pharmaceutical company. Other cast members include Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ed Skrein, and David Iacono.

‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’ is scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2025.
