ORLANDO, Florida — Universal Orlando Resort has officially announced the opening date for its much-anticipated theme park, Epic Universe. According to a recent social media post from the company, the new park will open its doors on May 22, 2025, just in time for Memorial Day weekend, a major holiday period in the United States.

Epic Universe is set to be the fourth theme park in Universal’s Orlando lineup, joining Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and Universal’s Volcano Bay water park. The new venue will cover a sprawling 750-acre area, more than doubling the existing size of Universal’s Orlando footprint.

The park is designed around five distinct “worlds,” each offering unique themes and attractions. These include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, Dark Universe, and Celestial Park. Karen Irwin, President and COO of Universal Orlando Resort, remarked, “With the addition of this spectacular new theme park, our guests will embark on an unforgettable vacation experience with a week’s worth of thrills that will be nothing short of epic!”

Celestial Park will serve as the main entry point for visitors, featuring a carousel, roller coaster, and several shopping and dining options. From there, guests can explore portals leading to the other themed worlds. Each world will host its signature attractions, such as Harry Potter’s “Battle at the Ministry” and Super Nintendo World’s “Bowser’s Challenge.”

The park’s opening is expected to be pivotal for Central Florida’s tourism sector, potentially drawing over six million visitors in its first year alone, according to Dennis Speigel, founder and CEO of International Theme Park Services. Speigel noted that Universal’s success since introducing the Harry Potter franchise in 2010 has significantly boosted its market presence.

Epic Universe will also expand accommodation options with three new hotels, including the 500-room Universal Helios Grand Hotel, featuring an exclusive park entrance for hotel guests. Reservations for the Helios Grand Hotel begin on October 22, alongside the release of multi-day and vacation package tickets for the park. Single-day tickets will become available at a later date.
