The Voice Knockout Round: Artists Battle for Rose Parade Spot
LOS ANGELES, California — The Knockout Round of Season 28 of The Voice continued on November 17, featuring intense performances from aspiring singers. With no Saves or Steals available, coaches faced difficult decisions after three pairs of artists battled it out on stage.
Reba McEntire‘s country artists Aaron Nichols and Cori Kennedy kicked off the night. Nichols performed “Hurricane” by Band of Heathens, while Kennedy sang “You and I” by Lady Gaga. Both performances impressed the coaches. Michael Bublé described Kennedy’s performance as incredible and praised Nichols for his gritty style. Snoop Dogg noted Nichols’ vocal control and praised Kennedy for her confidence and spirit.
Ultimately, McEntire chose Nichols to advance, citing his power and consistency. She also selected him as her Mic Drop artist, which gives him a shot to perform at the Rose Parade, pending audience votes.
Next, Team Snoop’s Carolina Rodriguez and Mindy Miller faced off. Rodriguez covered “Lovesong” by Adele while Miller sang “In Color” by Jamey Johnson. Niall Horan praised both artists, emphasizing Miller’s consistency and Rodriguez’s impressive challenge against a difficult song. Snoop Dogg ultimately picked Miller as the winner, acknowledging her mature sound and promising future.
In the final pairing, Team Bublé featured Jazz McKenzie and Teo Ramdel. McKenzie performed “Cruisin'” while Ramdel opted for “It’s My Life” by Bon Jovi. Coaches commended both contestants, with Snoop Dogg calling Ramdel’s performance superstar material and McKenzie an exceptional vocalist. Bublé declared McKenzie the winner, noting her remarkable singing abilities.
With these results, the competition heats up as the first Mic Drop recipients are revealed. The final Knockout Rounds will take place on November 24 as artists vie for the last spots in the upcoming Playoffs.
