Stephen Curry Golden State Warriors Game

SAN FRANCISCO — Stephen Curry will miss his third straight game due to an illness, as the Golden State Warriors prepare to face the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. The Warriors, currently with a 5-5 record, are facing a significantly more challenging injury report from the Pacers, who hold a 1-8 record.

Star forward Pascal Siakam is resting, joined by Aaron Nesmith who is out with a right forearm contusion. Both players participated in their last game against the Denver Nuggets. Along with Siakam and Nesmith, the Pacers will also be without Quenton Jackson, Johnny Furphy, Bennedict Mathurin, Kam Jones, T.J. McConnell, and Obi Toppin. Tyrese Haliburton is likely out for the season after suffering a torn Achilles in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals.

In contrast, the Warriors also face their challenges but have a noteworthy advantage. The team recently found themselves in a tough schedule as they embark on a six-game road trip, beginning with this matchup against the Pacers. Warriors coach Steve Kerr expressed the importance of winning this game as they prepare to face the San Antonio Spurs and the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder in upcoming games.

The Pacers surprised the Warriors just eight days ago with a victory in Indiana, but the absence of their top scorers—Siakam, Nesmith, and Jackson—gives the Warriors a significant boost. Even without Curry, the Warriors are 12.5-point favorites heading into the game.

Curry’s illness has kept him from participating since feeling symptoms following a recent road trip to Milwaukee and Indianapolis. Although he played through the discomfort in a previous game against Sacramento, he was ruled out for subsequent games as his condition worsened. Kerr has stated that Curry will remain home during the road trip to recuperate before the team’s next game against the Pacers.

Eligible players such as Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler may play in this upcoming game, with Green listed as probable with a rib contusion and Butler as questionable due to a lower back strain. Both missed the loss to the Kings but have expressed their hopes to return against the Nuggets.
