Warriors Trade Deadline Targets: Five Players Who Could Help Stephen Curry Turn Around Disappointing Season

The Golden State Warriors are in desperate need of help as the NBA trade deadline approaches. The team has been vocal about their desire for change, and it’s likely they will make a move before the Feb. 8 Trade Deadline. The mood around the Warriors has been gloomy after a series of disappointing losses, both on and off the court, throughout the 2023-24 season. With the potential for a franchise-altering maneuver, the Warriors may part ways with some of their cornerstone players.

While it’s hard to imagine the Warriors parting ways with Thompson and Green, everything is on the table at this point. Thompson’s large expiring contract could make him an attractive trade piece, but the team would likely need to include additional assets in any deal. Paul‘s contract is essentially expiring, with next year being non-guaranteed. Green, despite his talent, has had disciplinary issues in recent seasons which may make his remaining three-year contract difficult to trade. Wiggins, who is having a disappointing season, would require a team to believe in his potential for a turnaround in order to acquire him.

Ultimately, any trade involving the Warriors will likely include young players like Kuminga and Moody, as well as draft picks. This could impact the team’s future, but the front office seems determined to compete while Curry is still playing at an elite level.

Potential Target: Pascal Siakam (TOR)

Siakam is a popular name in Warriors trade rumors due to his playmaking, scoring ability, and versatility. He would fit well in Coach Steve Kerr‘s system as a skilled forward, providing the secondary scoring and playmaking that Curry needs. However, Siakam’s shooting has declined, particularly in catch-and-shoot situations, which could pose floor spacing issues for the Warriors. Acquiring Siakam in exchange for Wiggins, Kuminga, and/or Green could be a lateral move for the team.
