Wet and Windy Sunday Expected in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A wet and windy Sunday is on the horizon for Indianapolis, with scattered rain showers expected to persist throughout the afternoon. Rain will gradually taper off around 5 p.m., adding another 0.25 to 0.50 inches to total rainfall for the day.
Strong winds from the west are forecast, with gusts reaching between 30 to 40 mph this afternoon. These winds are contributing to a significant drop in temperatures, which are expected to fall from the mid-60s earlier in the day to the low 50s and possibly into the upper 40s.
The National Weather Service notes that the high temperature today will likely go down in the record books as mid-60s, occurring before the colder air settles in. Tonight, expect lows to drop into the upper 30s. Winds will remain breezy at 10 to 15 mph.
Looking ahead, quiet weather is forecast to return on Monday, with sunny skies and seasonal highs around the mid-60s. However, a boundary will move through Monday night into Tuesday morning, although it is expected to lack sufficient moisture for significant rain.
Tuesday morning temperatures may be slightly milder, staying in the upper 40s. This front will bring another round of cooler air, with highs only reaching the low 60s on Tuesday afternoon.
Drier and cooler air is likely through the week, with temperatures in the upper 50s by Wednesday, holding steady into next weekend. The next chance for rain is not expected until Saturday into Sunday.
