CHICAGO (AP) — Miami Heat forward Andrew Wiggins made his return to the court against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night after being sidelined for six games due to a right hamstring injury. His comeback marks the first time this season that the Heat’s top trio of Wiggins, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro has been available together since March 27.

Wiggins has endured a challenging season, having missed 15 games out of Miami’s 30 due to various injuries since being traded from the Golden State Warriors in a deal involving Jimmy Butler. Coach Erik Spoelstra noted that he would be ‘mindful’ of Wiggins’ minutes in the matchup against the Bulls to ensure he stays healthy.

Before his injury, Wiggins was averaging 19.9 points and 4.1 rebounds in 15 games with Miami, a notable increase from his previous overall stats of 18.2 points and 4.4 rebounds over 58 games with both the Warriors and the Heat. His scoring ability will be crucial as Miami fights for playoff position.

Entering the game, both Miami and Chicago were tied for the final two spots in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament at 36-43. The ninth-place team will secure a home game against the tenth seed, while the winner advances to face the loser of the game between the seventh and eighth seeds.
