GREEN BAY, Wis. — Winter Storm Brenda brought significant snowfall to Northeast Wisconsin over the weekend, dumping between 4-10 inches of snow across the region. The storm, which arrived early Saturday morning, continued through the afternoon, aligning with initial forecasts that predicted 4-7 inches of snow in most areas.
Areas north of Highway 10 and south of Highway 64 experienced the highest snow totals, with some regions near Highways 10 and 29 receiving up to 8 inches of snow. The Green Bay area was particularly affected, with snowfall amounts reaching 5-8 inches by the end of the day. However, areas south of Highway 10, including Appleton, saw slightly lower accumulations of 3-6 inches, while regions south of Oshkosh and Manitowoc received only a couple of inches.
‘This snow is much lighter and fluffier compared to earlier this week, which is a relief,’ said FOX 11 Meteorologist Audrey Leigh. ‘The lighter snowfall reduces the risk of significant power outages and tree damage.’ The heaviest snowfall occurred between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, with snow showers ending by 8 p.m. the same evening.
Despite the heavy snow, temperatures remained relatively moderate, with a high of 25 degrees on Saturday. Winds were light, contributing to the fluffy texture of the snow. By Sunday, skies were expected to clear, with a low of 9 degrees Saturday night and a high of 20 degrees on Sunday and Monday.
Residents were encouraged to share their photos of the winter storm on social media, with many taking to platforms to showcase the wintry landscape. Meteorologist Phil DeCastro provided detailed forecasts throughout the event, helping residents prepare for the weather conditions.
The storm caused minimal disruptions, with the light snow and manageable temperatures preventing major travel issues. However, authorities still advised caution on roadways, especially during the heaviest snowfall periods.
