Woman Found Dead in Lincoln Home, Investigation Underway
LINCOLN, Neb. — Police are investigating the death of a woman found in her home in northeast Lincoln on Thursday morning.
Authorities identified the victim as 43-year-old Tracy Henman. Family members called 911 around 8 a.m. after noticing they hadn’t seen her for a few days.
Lincoln Police officers arrived at Henman’s home on Deweese Drive, north of 56th and Holdrege Streets, and discovered her deceased with visible injuries to her neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 40-year-old man, known to Henman, was also found in the house. Assistant Chief Jason Stille reported he suffered injuries to his face and neck and was taken to the hospital after what police termed a medical episode.
LPD has not released the suspect’s name, as he has not yet been booked into the Lancaster County Jail. Charges are pending, and they may change based on the results of an autopsy.
Stille said an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday to determine the cause and manner of Henman’s death. Investigators are also looking into the relationship between Henman and the suspect to see if it involved domestic violence.
Neighbor Erica Evans recounted her shock upon discovering the police presence. “I saw a bunch of cops coming through, and it’s been chaos ever since,” she said.
In a statement, Captain Ben Miller assured the public that there is no ongoing threat, but added that the investigation is still in its early stages. Officers have been interviewing those acquainted with both the victim and the suspect.
Anyone with useful information is encouraged to contact LPD’s non-emergency number at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
This marks the sixth homicide investigation of 2025 in Lincoln, with three previously classified as domestic-related.
