WWE Royal Rumble 2025: Top Stars Clash in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The WWE Royal Rumble 2025, one of professional wrestling’s most anticipated annual events, kicked off Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The event, streaming live on Peacock in the U.S. and Netflix internationally, featured both men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches, alongside high-stakes title defenses.
The men’s Royal Rumble included top stars such as John Cena, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Logan Paul, while the women’s match showcased talents like Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, Iyo Sky, and Bayley. Additionally, undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes defended his title against Kevin Owens, and #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) faced Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) in a best two-out-of-three falls match for the WWE tag team titles.
Notably absent from the event was WWE star Jade Cargill, who has been off TV since late 2024. Reports suggested she was either recovering from an injury or working on non-WWE projects. Despite fan speculation, Cargill was not among the competitors at the Royal Rumble. However, she has been spotted at the WWE Performance Center recently, signaling a potential return to programming soon.
Cargill was last seen on TV ahead of WWE Survivor Series WarGames in November, where a mystery attacker put her through a windshield, forcing her withdrawal from the Women’s WarGames match. At the time, she and Bianca Belair held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, with Naomi stepping in to replace Cargill as champion. Earlier this month, Cargill hinted on social media that she might know the identity of her attacker, adding intrigue to her storyline.
With the Royal Rumble serving as a key event in WWE’s calendar, the absence of Cargill did little to dampen the excitement. The event drew thousands of fans to Lucas Oil Stadium and millions more watching globally, setting the stage for WrestleMania 2025.
