Nigerian Afrobeat sensation Yemi Alade left fans in awe with her electrifying performance at the opening ceremony of the highly anticipated 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The event took place on Saturday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

Having long nurtured this dream, Yemi Alade took to her official social media handles to celebrate the incredible milestone. She expressed her excitement, saying, ‘Since 2016, I have envisioned performing at the stadium for football ceremonies surrounded by hundreds of dancers and people. Yemi Alade, along with other notable African artists, had the privilege of performing the official theme song of the 2023 AFCON, titled ‘Akwaba,’ which means ‘welcome’ in the Baoule language spoken in Ivory Coast. The rendition featured the legendary Ivorian group Magic System and Egyptian singer Mohamed Ramadan.

The stage was set in the middle of the football pitch at the astounding 60,000-capacity Alassane Ouattara Stadium.
