Zach Lavine Basketball Trade Rumors

Sacramento, CA – Zach LaVine returned to the Sacramento Kings lineup on Sunday night after missing nine games due to a left ankle sprain. LaVine, who hadn’t played since December 14, scored 20 points and provided four assists against the Milwaukee Bucks, marking his first game back.

The Kings struggled in LaVine’s absence, posting a 2-7 record and sinking to an 8-28 season overall. His return comes as the NBA trade deadline approaches next month, with LaVine’s name surfacing in trade rumors involving several teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks.

“I feel good. It felt good to get back out there,” LaVine said after the game. “I was able to go out there and give effort. I felt fine. I’ll get more of my rhythm back.” His performance, however, could not prevent the Kings from falling to 20 games under .500 for the season.

LaVine’s situation remains complex. He is under contract for $47.5 million this season and has a player option valued at $48.9 million for the 2026-27 season. Teams inquiring about a trade must consider his hefty salary, which complicates negotiations.

Reports indicate that the Bucks, who are interested in acquiring LaVine, may need to part with Kyle Kuzma and Bobby Portis while also agreeing to the Kings’ request for the Bucks’ 2031 first-round pick. Milwaukee’s hesitation to part with that pick stems from uncertainty surrounding superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo’s long-term future with the team.

As the trade deadline approaches on February 6, LaVine’s name will likely remain in discussions as teams assess their rosters for potential playoff runs. LaVine’s ability to recover from injury and contribute to the Kings’ performance could impact his future in Sacramento.
