Zverev Secures Spot in ATP Finals After Vienna Advance
VIENNA, Austria (AP) — Alexander Zverev became the fourth player to qualify for the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals on Friday, advancing to the semi-finals at the Vienna Open after opponent Tallon Griekspoor withdrew.
The 28-year-old German, a two-time champion at the prestigious year-end event, marked his eighth qualification in the last nine seasons. He joins Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic in the Torino field, which will take place from November 9-16.
Zverev’s strong performance this year has included reaching the final of the Australian Open and securing his 24th ATP Tour title on home soil in Munich. He has had at least one tour-level title in nine of the last ten seasons.
His journey to the ATP Finals has been impressive. Zverev first qualified for the event in 2017, winning titles in 2018 and 2021. He reached semi-finals in 2019 and 2024 and holds a 17-10 record at the championships, with notable improvements since the tournament moved to Turin.
Currently, four spots remain available for qualification to join Zverev in Turin. Fifth-placed Taylor Fritz is next in line, vying for one of the coveted positions as the competition heats up ahead of the Finals.
