Starting August 1, passengers flying with certain airlines from Toluca Airport will lose a long-standing benefit: free parking. The airport authority announced that the complimentary parking service, which had been offered to travelers of select carriers, will be discontinued after July 31.
From that date onward, all users will be subject to the general parking rates approved by the airport. The decision, airport officials say, aims to standardize services across the board. No more exceptions, no more free rides—at least not for parking.
The change affects passengers who had grown accustomed to leaving their vehicles without charge while they traveled. For some, it’s an inconvenience; for others, a surprise. The airport did not specify which airlines were previously included in the benefit, but the shift is clear: everyone pays the same.
Toluca Airport, located about 50 kilometers west of Mexico City, has long been an alternative hub for travelers seeking to avoid the congestion of the capital’s main airport. The parking perk was seen as a small incentive for choosing Toluca. Now, that incentive is gone.
Rates have not been disclosed, but they will align with the airport’s official tariff schedule. Travelers are advised to check the updated fees before their next trip. The airport management emphasized that the change is part of a broader effort to streamline operations and ensure fairness among all passengers.
Reactions have been mixed. Some frequent flyers expressed disappointment, noting that the benefit made Toluca more attractive. Others shrugged, saying parking costs are a minor factor in their travel decisions. Either way, the free parking era at Toluca Airport ends on July 31.
