Emily Compagno is officially joining “The Five” as a permanent co-host, Fox News announced Monday. She will make her debut in her new role on Sept. 8, sitting alongside longtime co-hosts Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters, as well as rotating liberal voices Harold Ford Jr. and Jessica Tarlov.
“Fifteen years later, ‘The Five’ remains a powerhouse and appointment viewing for millions of Americans,” Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement. “Emily is a highly accomplished host whose energy and talent have made her a standout across FOX News Media, and we are thrilled to officially welcome her to the show.”
Compagno expressed her own excitement, saying, “I couldn’t be more honored to join ‘The Five,’ a team I have long admired and have been fortunate to work alongside over the years. Having an official seat at the table on what I truly believe is the most fun show on television is an incredible privilege. I am grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”
The move means Compagno will step down from her role as co-host of “Outnumbered.” A rotation of Fox News personalities will fill her seat until a permanent replacement is named. Compagno first joined Fox News as a contributor in 2018 and became an “Outnumbered” co-host in 2021. She is also the author of the 2024 New York Times bestseller “Under His Wings,” published by Fox News Books.
Before her broadcasting career, Compagno practiced law in criminal defense and civil litigation. She later served as a federal managing attorney and Acting Director at the Social Security Administration, and worked as a Senior Judge Judicial Extern for the late Hon. John T. Noonan at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She also was a captain of the NFL‘s Oakland Raiders cheerleading squad and an NFL Ambassador representing the league abroad.
“The Five,” which last month celebrated its 15-year anniversary, is now the most-watched program on cable news. The panel show averaged 3.6 million total viewers, including 322,000 in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 demo, during the second quarter of 2026, commanding more than 64% of all cable news viewers in the 5 p.m. ET timeslot. Additionally, “The Five” draws more Democratic viewers than CNN and MSNBC and is the No. 1 program among independents. The show also finished 2025 with a larger audience than “CBS Evening News.”
