Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day is officially coming to Peacock. The sci-fi thriller will be available to stream beginning on October 9, 2026. That means viewers will need a Peacock subscription to watch the film at home. Released in theaters on June 12, the movie grossed $241 million worldwide.
The film features an all-star cast including Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson and Colman Domingo. Blunt and O’Connor co-star as strangers with a cosmic connection that’s not at all apparent at the start. She’s hoping to level up from Kansas City weather girl to serious news anchor, a goal disrupted when she starts chattering in an unearthly language while live on the air. He’s just absconded with top-secret material from the shady government contractor he worked for until very recently.
More specifically, a TV meteorologist (Blunt) and cybersecurity analyst (O’Connor) decide to share their proof that extraterrestrial life exists while trying to evade government contractor (Firth), who tries to prevent them from getting the secret out. Elsewhere, we meet characters played by Colman Domingo (good guy), Colin Firth (bad guy), Eve Hewson (good girlfriend), and Wyatt Russell (bad boyfriend). The logline reads: ‘If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to eight billion people. We are coming close to … Disclosure Day.’
As far as Spielberg’s alien epics go, Disclosure Day doesn’t capture the frightening but irresistible allure of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, nor the wonder or pathos of E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial—but it’s more on the emotional wavelength of those films than his action-oriented take on War of the Worlds. The film garnered an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and only a 3 out of 5 stars on Time Out. ‘Not a flat-out fizzer but definitely nowhere near the ludicrously high standards he’s set for himself,’ Time Out’s Global Film Editor Phil de Semlyen says about Disclosure Day. Regardless, Blunt and her co-stars have been praised for their work in the film, which makes it worth checking out—at least from your couch.
