The New York Giants will look to continue their strong start to the season when they take on the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football. New York is coming off a 28-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1. Los Angeles dropped a 27-7 decision to the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia.
Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is coming off a solid season opener. He completed 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns, managing a career-best completion percentage of 70.3%. He also rushed for 54 yards on 11 attempts, an average of 4.9 yards per carry. Running back Cam Skattebo added 81 rushing yards and one touchdown on 18 carries, plus an end zone backflip.
For the Rams, Matthew Stafford snapped a 17-game touchdown streak and appeared disjointed, finishing with 155 passing yards and a 61.2 quarterback rating. The ground game proved more effective. Kyren Williams and Blake Corum combined for 95 rushing yards and the team’s lone score before being scripted out of the contest. The duo will look to establish pace against Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson’s rejuvenated unit.
Aaron Donald is set to make his return to the Rams after sitting out the opener. Los Angeles is without Myles Garrett, who went on injured reserve this week with a knee injury. Puka Nacua is questionable with a hip injury. His backup, Jordan Whittington, is doubtful with a quad injury. Back on home soil and with 10 days to prepare, the Rams have a distinct advantage over the traveling Giants. Still, the Giants shouldn’t be overlooked.
Expect John Harbaugh to build on the suffocating approach he took in Week 1, focusing on winning the time-of-possession battle via long drives and efficient passing. Meanwhile, Sean McVay should counter by establishing an up-tempo rhythm early, aggressively dispatching Davante Adams and his other available pass catchers downfield. Even with Nacua potentially sitting, both teams have the adequate firepower to put up points.
The latest Giants vs. Rams odds have Los Angeles as a 6.5-point favorite, down half a point from the opener. The over/under for total points scored is 47.5. The money line is Rams -307, Giants +245. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
