Torino Lead Udinese 2-1 After Kulenovic Pounces on Okoye Error

The Serie A posticipo of the sixth giornata between Torino and Udinese went ahead at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, with Ignazio Abate’s granata hosting Kosta Runjaic’s friulani.

Torino arrived with four points from one win, one draw and three defeats. After a draw against Bologna, they wanted a victory in front of their own fans to find confidence and the three points after a fine away win at Firenze with a decisive goal from Adams, who returned from injury. Udinese had the same points and came into the match after three consecutive defeats, determined to reverse course. For both, precious points were at stake, but for the granata the goal was above all to smile again and give joy to their public.

Past meetings at home against Udinese smiled on Torino. In 42 official matches at home against the friulani, the granata had 22 wins, 9 draws and 11 defeats. In the last two clashes against Udinese, however, both in the 2025/26 season, there were two defeats.

The match was directed by Valerio Crezzini. Assistants were Cavallina and Zezza. Fourth official was Massa. VAR was Volpi and AVAR was Camplone. The match was visible live on DAZN and Sky Sport Calcio, Sky Sport 4K and Sky Sport 251. It was also available in streaming on DAZN, Now and Sky Go. There was live text coverage on Gazzetta.it.

Torino lined up in a 3-4-1-2: Perri; Comuzzo, Coco, Rodriguez; Belghali, Bragança, Mandragora, Cacciamani; Oristanio; Adams, Simeone. Coach: Abate. Udinese lined up in a 3-4-2-1: Okoye; Abankwah, Solet, Ebosse; Vojvoda, Karlstrom, Zarraga, Kamara; Ekkelenkamp, Chakvetadze; Unai Gomez. Coach: Runjaic.

Torino pressed high from the start, making life complicated for Udinese as they tried to play out from the back. The granata tried to set the tempo, while Udinese closed up with great density in the centre. In the 20:48 minute, Chakvetadze was immediately dangerous: Ekkelenkamp served him on the run and he shot from the edge, the ball deflected into a corner.

Torino’s first shot came from Oristanio, but it was blocked by the visiting defence. Bragança put Torino ahead after Che Adams hit the post. The Portuguese midfielder, scoring his first goal in Italy, was the quickest to pounce on the ball and fire it into the net. Udinese responded. Solet built well, and Ekkelenkamp received and beat Perri, finding the bottom corner to make it 1-1. At halftime, it was 1-1: Ekkelenkamp had answered Bragança’s goal with a flash.

In the second half, Torino made changes. Ismajli came on for Ricardo Rodriguez. Then Vlasic and Ilkhan came on for Bragança and Oristanio. Udinese made three changes: Davis, Jovanovic and Alaba came on, with Alaba making his Serie A debut for the Austrian. Later, Kamara went off and Arizala came on. Ilkhan, who had just entered, went off injured, and the Lithuanian midfielder came on.

Kulenovic put Torino ahead. It was 2-1 for the granata, exploiting a bad error by Okoye who, with the complicity of Bertola, gifted the ball to the Torino striker, who easily tapped into an empty net.

Simeone had earlier missed a chance to extend the lead. Okoye came out badly, and the Torino striker failed to exploit the error, his shot going high from two steps. Vlasic served Comuzzo in the centre, and the defender headed just wide. Vlasic then tried to slip through, but Bertola closed him down at the edge of the area. Kamara, served by Solet, put in a cross-shot from the right, and Perri was reactive to push it away. Belghali crossed, the ball was deflected and went out for a corner for the hosts. Mandragora ended up on the advertising boards, hit a camera and hurt himself. Nothing serious, fortunately. At 22:28, the No. 77 aimed for goal, took two steps, stumbled and lost the ball. Occasion wasted.
