Alabama’s Germie Bernard Shines as Team’s Go-To Player

Tuscaloosa, AL — Germie Bernard has become a vital asset for the Alabama Crimson Tide this season, both on and off the field. Head Coach Kalen DeBoer praised Bernard during Saturday’s appearance on ‘College GameDay,’ calling him a strong leader and mentor.
“He’s a solid guy through and through,” DeBoer said. “He knows what his foundation is and who he is as a person. He came in, and he had to feel it out a little bit coming into a new place last year. Day after day, he has been who he is.”
The 21-year-old Bernard transferred to Alabama from Washington last season. During his first year, he made a significant impact, catching 50 passes for 794 yards and scoring two touchdowns. This season, Bernard has four touchdowns on 20 catches for 310 yards, showcasing his growing importance to the team.
When asked about his decision to transfer, Bernard shared his gratitude for DeBoer’s support. “When I made that decision to get into the portal, he said he would love to have me back. I’m very blessed to take a chance on me,” he stated.
Previously, Bernard played a key role at Washington, contributing to the team’s run to the College Football Playoff last season. He noted the appealing offensive strategy at Alabama as a factor in his transfer. “If you look at his track record at every school he’s been to, he’s winning. They have a great offense that is going to get receivers the ball and be explosive,” he said.
As Bernard continues to shine, his leadership on the field is expected to influence the Tide’s performance for the rest of the season.
