Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Supreme Court announced Monday it will not hear Ghislaine Maxwell‘s appeal regarding her conviction for sex trafficking linked to the sexual abuse of underage girls by Jeffrey Epstein.

This decision comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the administration for its delay in releasing investigative files related to Epstein and Maxwell, despite earlier commitments to make the documents public.

The Court did not disclose how many justices, if any, were inclined to grant Maxwell’s request for an appeal.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence at a minimum-security facility in Texas, after being transferred from a more restrictive prison in Florida. This transfer is notable as it required a waiver under Bureau of Prisons policy, given Maxwell’s status as a convicted sex offender.

Maxwell was a close associate of Epstein, who was charged with multiple counts of sex trafficking before his death in 2019. Her case has drawn significant media attention and public interest.
