Xbox Game Pass Plans Update

REDMOND, Wash. — Microsoft has launched a major overhaul of its Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, introducing three new pricing tiers designed to offer more flexibility and value to players. Starting October 1, Xbox Game Pass will include Essential, Premium, and Ultimate plans, each tailored to different gaming preferences.

The changes come just over a year after a previous price increase. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has seen a notable rise from $19.99 to $29.99 per month, reflecting an increase of 50% in the U.S. This tier now offers over 75 day one game releases annually, enhanced cloud streaming quality up to 1440p, and new bundled features like Fortnite Crew and Ubisoft+ Classics.

“Game Pass has reached an all-time high in creator participation and player engagement,” said a Microsoft spokesperson. “These changes are intended to help more players find the games and creators they love.”

The Premium plan remains priced at $14.99 per month, expanded to include a library of over 200 games playable across console, PC, and cloud. Recently added titles include popular games like Diablo IV and Hogwarts Legacy. Premium subscribers will also gain in-game rewards in games such as Halo Infinite.

Essential, the entry-level plan priced at $9.99 per month, offers unlimited cloud gaming, online multiplayer, and access to a curated library of over 50 games, including titles like Hades and Stardew Valley. Both Premium and Essential now incorporate improved Rewards programs, allowing subscribers to earn points through gameplay.

The new plans are automatically assigned based on existing subscriptions, with Core subscribers shifted to Essential and Standard users upgraded to Premium. The transition to the revamped tiers is effective immediately, with prices reflected for new subscribers from October 1 and current subscribers from November 4.

As Xbox continues to adapt and expand its gaming ecosystem, Microsoft aims to cater to its diverse community of gamers, emphasizing choice and value across all play styles.
