Ryan Greene First Nhl Goal

Pittsburgh, PA — Ryan Greene scored his first career NHL goal during the Penguins’ game against the New York Rangers on Saturday evening. Greene’s goal came just over three minutes into the second period, marking a highlight for the Penguins in their 6-1 loss.

Drafted 11th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, Greene’s goal was significant as it was only the second to get past Rangers’ goalie Igor Shesterkin this season. Despite the team’s struggles, Greene showed his potential, contributing two blocked shots and serving two minutes for penalty infractions.

The Penguins have some tough decisions ahead regarding Greene’s future with the team. They must decide whether to keep him in the NHL or reassign him to the WHL Calgary, where he could continue his development. If Greene stays in the NHL, he is expected to have a decent amount of playing time, especially as a third-line center behind stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin.

“Ryan showed great poise out there,” said Penguins coach Mike Sullivan after the game. “It’s important for young players to find ways to score in tough games. He’s definitely someone we’re looking to develop further.”

With his first goal under his belt, Greene aims to build on this foundation as the regular season progresses. The Penguins will look to regroup as they prepare for their next match-up, hoping to turn the tide for the remainder of the season.
