South Los Angeles School Shooting Response

SOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. — A shooting report at Los Angeles Academy Middle School on Thursday afternoon led to a significant response from police. The incident was reported just after noon near the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Avalon Boulevard.

Authorities detained one student after another student claimed the detained individual might have a gun. However, investigators confirmed that no weapon has been found, no shots were fired, and there were no injuries reported.

The entire campus was put on lockdown as officers conducted a thorough search to ensure student safety. Video footage from AIR7 showed multiple patrol vehicles stationed at the school’s entrance while officers performed room-to-room checks.

As of now, the detained student remains in police custody while investigators continue to assess the situation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
