Dense Fog Advisory for Kern County Areas This Morning

Kern County Fog Weather Conditions

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern County residents are waking up to a dense fog advisory this morning, particularly in the northern valley communities. The advisory includes Delano, Shafter, and Wasco and is in effect until 11 a.m. Local officials warn that visibility could drop to as low as a quarter mile.

Drivers are advised to use low-beam headlights, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and reduce speed while navigating through the fog.

The weather pattern causing this fog is attributed to high pressure moving in over the area. As a result, afternoon temperatures are expected to be slightly warmer today. Highs will reach the upper 70s in and around Bakersfield, about 80 degrees near Lake Isabella, and mid-80s in desert areas. Mountain towns will experience highs in the 60s and 70s.

However, residents can expect a return to cooler temperatures this weekend as the high pressure system weakens. By Sunday, Bakersfield’s temperature is predicted to fall back to around 70 degrees.

Additionally, gusty winds are anticipated along the Mojave Desert Slopes through the weekend, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph overnight into Saturday. No wind alerts are currently in effect.
