Flames Host Rangers Tonight in Calgary Matchup
CALGARY, Alberta – The Calgary Flames will face the New York Rangers tonight at 6:00 p.m. MT at Scotiabank Saddledome. After a rough start to the season, the Flames are eager to turn things around in front of their home crowd.
The Flames’ projected lineup for tonight includes top forwards Jonathan Huberdeau, Nazem Kadri, and Morgan Frost joining together on the first line. They will be supported by Joel Farabee, Connor Zary, and Yegor Sharangovich on the second line. Calgary‘s defensive pairings are expected to feature Rasmus Andersson and Kevin Bahl, along with Jake Bean and MacKenzie Weegar.
For goaltending, Dustin Wolf will start for the Flames, with Devin Cooley backing him up. Flames’ coach Ryan Huska commented on recent lineup changes, saying, “Giving certain players a chance to reset has been important.”
The Rangers come into this game looking to improve their road performance after facing challenges at home. The team has a 3-0-1 record away from New York, which is promising given their 0-4-1 record at Madison Square Garden. Coach Mike Sullivan is making adjustments for tonight’s game, moving players around to find the right combination for success.
The Rangers’ top line is projected to be Artemi Panarin, J.T. Miller, and Taylor Raddysh, while Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafrenière will also play crucial roles in the offense. Goalie Igor Shesterkin will be looking to secure a win, having been effective in earlier road games.
Both teams have struggled offensively in recent games. The Flames are currently averaging just 1.67 goals per game, ranking last in the league, while the Rangers are not far ahead at 2.33 goals per game. However, both teams are keen to increase their offensive production, especially as they head into a crucial stretch of games.
The matchup will be broadcasted on Sportsnet West and MSG, giving fans plenty of opportunities to catch the action. As the Flames look to get back on track, tonight’s game represents a vital opportunity to build momentum.
