Stranger Things Season 5 Trailer

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The final battle against Vecna is closer than ever as Netflix unveils the trailer for Season 5 of Stranger Things. The new season, set to debut with Volume 1 on Nov. 26, reunites the beloved Hawkins crew just as they face their gravest challenge yet.

In the trailer released on Oct. 30, the town of Hawkins is depicted under military quarantine, following devastating events that left the town scarred from the opening of the Rifts at the end of Season 4. Series co-creator Ross Duffer explains that this season begins in chaos, as the heroes grapple with their failure at the end of the previous season.

“We usually set up their normal lives and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element,” Duffer said in an interview with Tudum. “But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.” His brother and co-creator Matt Duffer echoed this sentiment, stating that “nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore.”

The government’s military presence complicates the gang’s efforts significantly as they seek to find and defeat Vecna, whose plans remain a mystery. “We are still trying to figure it out and may not be able to figure it out, so you feel that burden on Lucas as well as everyone else,” Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) said.

Production details feature executive producer Shawn Levy stating that the action and visual effects are “next level,” while maintaining the emotional heart that has defined the series. “Even as the storytelling becomes more epic, it’s always anchored in these characters that we love,” Levy noted.

The return of the cast includes Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), and Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), among others. Millie Bobby Brown describes Eleven in this season as “in training mode” and focused on protecting her friends, while Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) reveals that the gang is struggling with the toll events have taken on them as they search for Vecna.

The upcoming season is divided into three volumes, with the first volume featuring four episodes premiering on November 26, followed by three episodes on Christmas and the finale on New Year’s Eve, marking the end of an era for fans of the series.
