Tate Mcrae Grammy Nomination News

Los Angeles, CA — Canadian pop star Tate McRae received her first Grammy nomination on Friday, but not in the category fans anticipated. She is nominated for Best Dance Pop Recording for her song “Just Keep Watching,” featured in the upcoming film F1, which stars Brad Pitt.

McRae excitedly shared the news on her Instagram Stories, posting, “Grammy nominated!!!!!! Thank u!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @recordingacademy.” The track has already seen success, winning Song of the Summer and Best Editing at the MTV Video Music Awards in September.

This nomination comes as a surprise to many, especially since her third studio album, So Close to What, was completely overlooked during the 2026 Grammy nominations. Released on February 21, 2025, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart and includes popular singles like “Revolving Door,” “It’s OK I’m OK,” and “Sports Car.”

In addition to her Grammy nod, McRae will face competition from Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco for their collaboration “Bluest Flame,” Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” Zara Larsson’s “Midnight Sun,” and PinkPantheress’s “Illegal.”

Interestingly, McRae was also not eligible for the Best New Artist category this year, having already been nominated three times in the past.

As McRae celebrates this milestone, she is concluding her So Close to What World Tour, which kicked off on March 18 in Mexico City and is set to end on November 8 in Inglewood, California. The final show will feature her latest single, “Tit for Tat,” rumored to be inspired by a recent breakup.

The 68th Grammy Awards will take place on February 1, 2026, where McRae will compete for her first Grammy in a highly anticipated ceremony.
