LOS ANGELES, CA — Filmmakers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are set to spearhead an original Star Trek film, as confirmed by multiple sources. The duo, known for their work on Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Spider-Man: Homecoming, will write, produce, and direct this new project under their GoldDay banner.

Details about the film’s plot remain confidential, but insiders indicate that it will not be linked to any past Star Trek movies or television series. This fresh approach aligns with Skydance founder David Ellison‘s recent announcement that the upcoming Star Trek film will introduce new actors and characters, shifting away from the established Chris Pine-led series.

Goldstein and Daley have gained a reputation for revitalizing popular franchises while infusing them with humor and originality. Their previous works, such as Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, received favorable reviews, earning a 91% score from critics and 92% from audiences. The duo has also directed and written various successful films, including New Line’s Game Night and the Vacation reboot.

During a recent meeting with reporters, co-chair Dana Goldberg emphasized that Star Trek will be a high priority for Paramount Skydance moving forward. She stressed the importance of collaboration between the film and television departments to enhance the Star Trek brand.

Goldstein and Daley’s most recent project, Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds, is expected to debut next year on Apple TV+. As fans await more news on the new Star Trek film, excitement builds for its potential to breathe new life into the beloved franchise, which has not seen a theatrical release since 2016’s Star Trek Beyond.
