4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Central Coast, California
PASO ROBLES, Calif. (FOX26) — A 4.1 magnitude earthquake shook the Central Coast Tuesday morning at 9:54 a.m.
The quake occurred about 5 miles west of Templeton. It was initially reported with a magnitude of 4.3, later revised to 4.4, and finally adjusted to 4.1 by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
Residents in nearby areas, as far south as Lompoc, reported feeling the tremors. Fortunately, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
Seismologists often adjust earthquake magnitudes as more data becomes available, which helps to provide a clearer understanding of the quake’s impact.
The community has responded positively, grateful that the event did not result in significant harm. Locals remain vigilant but also relieved as they assess their properties.
