Jim Gaffigan Launches Bourbon Comedy Special Inspired by Whiskey
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Comedian Jim Gaffigan has premiered a new comedy special titled “Live from Old Forester: The Bourbon Set,” inspired by his passion for bourbon. The special was filmed at The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, with oak barrels adorning the stage, creating a perfect atmosphere for the theme.
Gaffigan’s journey into the world of whiskey started with the launch of his own bourbon brand, Fathertime, in 2024. The brand was co-created with college friend Stu Pollard, blending Gaffigan’s love for whiskey with his experiences as a father. Fathertime, named for the brief moments of peace a father earns, is a high-rye bourbon that is released in small batches each spring and fall.
Reflecting on his new project, Gaffigan stated, “Stand up is all self-assignment. With The Bourbon Set, I let my love of bourbon lead the way. At this point, I’m not sure if bourbon is a passion or a mid-life crisis, but I love it.” He opted to keep the special independent, saying, “I just wanted to get this material out there for the other bourbon geeks.”
The special is directed by Mike Lavin and produced by Pollard, with Jim Gaffigan, Jeannie Gaffigan, and Alex Murray as executive producers. It was made by Chimichanga Productions, 3 Nuts Studios, and Lunacy Unlimited.
Gaffigan, a celebrated comedian with numerous accolades including eight Grammy nominations and multiple Emmy awards, is currently on his “Everything is Wonderful Tour.” He previously launched his 11th special, “The Skinny,” on Hulu, which became the streamer’s first original stand-up special.
This comedy special, coupling Gaffigan’s humor with his love for bourbon, is now available on YouTube for fans and bourbon enthusiasts alike.
