Boston College Eagles Basketball Game

Chestnut Hill, MA — The Boston College Eagles Men’s Basketball team secured a 63-52 victory over the Hampton Pirates on Tuesday night. The game showcased Boston College’s defensive strategy and resilience amid early struggles.

Boston College opened the game relying heavily on Fred Payne, who scored five points and made a steal, helping the Eagles to an early 9-6 lead. However, they faced challenges early, committing three fouls within the first five minutes, which impacted their rhythm.

As the game progressed, BC’s defense solidified, allowing their offense to push ahead. Luka Toews entered and facilitated scoring with three early assists, leading to successful three-pointers from Jason Asemota and Marko Radunovic. The Eagles surged, going on an 18-5 run to establish a 27-11 advantage.

Despite struggling on offense, Hampton capitalized on fouls called against the Eagles, allowing them to stay competitive. Jason Asemota continued to exert pressure defensively and hit a crucial three-pointer just before halftime, giving the Eagles a 37-26 lead at the break.

After halftime, the Eagles maintained their energy, highlighted by impactful dunks from Aidan Shaw and Jayden Hastings. With 15:23 left in the game, BC led 43-30. Their strategy relied on drawing fouls and getting to the free-throw line, though they struggled with open shots.

With less than seven minutes remaining, the Eagles extended their lead to 58-36 thanks to points in the paint from Boden Kapke and Luka Toews. Although Hampton increased pressure with a full-court press towards the end, Boston College’s lead remained intact. The Eagles ended the game with a 39% shooting percentage.

Fred Payne led the Eagles with 14 points. Boden Kapke contributed 10 points, while Luka Toews provided four assists. The Eagles now prepare for their next challenge against Davidson on November 21.
